Perigord Truffles of Tasmania has 17 years experience in producing French truffle trees which have been inoculated with the fungus Tuber melanosporum.

The trees produced have produced French truffles in Tasmania and the cold climates of Victoria and NSW.

Trees from our tree nursery in Tasmania resulted in Australia’s first French being produced and subsequently our trees have produced the first French truffles in Victoria and NSW.

At our nursery we produce three species of trees:

• Deciduous oaks (Quercus robur)
• Evergreen oaks (Quercus ilex)
• Hazel trees (Corylus avellana)

There are a large number of inoculated trees available for purchase.

The trees available for sale for 2010 are 18 months of age under strict quarantine and hygiene conditions to ensure a high standard of quality control.
