Perigord Truffles of Tasmania has 17 years experience in producing French truffle trees which have been inoculated with the fungus tuber melanosporum.
The innoculated trees have produced French truffles in Tasmania and the cold climates of Victoria and NSW.
Trees from our tree nursery in Tasmania resulted in Australia's first French Truffle being produced and subsequently our trees have produced the first French Truffles in Victoria and NSW.
Farmers have the option of purchasing the trees under a Joint Venture Arrangement.
The Joint Venture Arrangement involves Perigord Truffles of Tasmania in a relationship with the truffle farmer for a period of 15 years.

There are a large number of inoculated trees available for purchase in 2012.
Our tree nursery is situated at Plenty in the picturesque Derwent Valley 40 km north-west of Hobart.
The nursery has grown as the industry expanded and now has the capacity to produce 30,000 inoculated trees per annum.
The tree nursery operation is managed by Co-Chairman Peter Cooper with one full time staff member and up to 10 casuals during the busy periods.
